How to find us

The Old Vine is situated opposite Winchester Cathedral green and the City Museum, in an area known as the Square, a short stroll from the High Street.

The Old Vine is the perfect base for guests visiting the Guildhall, the Cathedral, the Great Hall, Pilgrim's School, Winchester College, the School of Art and the university.

Winchester is also the perfect place to break your journey when taking a cruise from Southampton.

Winchester is one hour’s travel from London Waterloo, trains leave approximately every half hour.
Winchester is also within easy reach by rail of Woking, Basingstoke, Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.
    For timetable information call +44 (0)8457 48 49 50.

Arriving on the M3, come off at J11. Follow the signs for St Cross and the city centre. This will bring you along St Cross Road. Proceed for a mile or so.
As you come into Winchester, look out for the Green Man pub on the right-hand side. Turn right here into St Swithun Street.
Turn left at the bottom of the road into Symonds Street. At the fork at the end of the road take the left-hand exit into Little Minster Street.

Guests are advised not to use J9 if coming from the north, as navigation through Winchester city centre is difficult if you are unfamiliar with the area.

The Old Vine can offer hotel guests use of complimentary permits allowing on-street parking in bays surrounding the Old Vine.
While some bays are moments away, others are up to five-minutes’ walk away.
Please note we do not have a private car park; on-street parking is subject to availability, and parking using this facility cannot be guaranteed.
Guests staying in the Designers Guild Annexe do have use of a small garage; we're sorry but this is only available to guests staying in this unit.

If you are using sat-nav or GPS to reach the Old Vine, you should enter the postcode SO23 9HB for Little Minster Street (this postcode differs from our actual address, but this postcode will bring you correctly to the rear of the Old Vine for parking purposes).

A map of the on-street parking bays surrounding the Old Vine can be downloaded by using the link on the right. Parking bays are marked in blue, and you must collect a permit from the bar to use this facility.

During peak times, and for guaranteed parking, there are public car parks within easy walking distance which guests may prefer to use. Most of the council public car parks in Winchester are free between 6pm and 8am Monday to Saturday; on Sundays Tower Street is free all day, while the remaining city-centre car parks charge a flat rate of £2 from 10am to 4pm.
Guests may also park on single-yellow lines in areas around the Old Vine between 6pm and 8am Monday to Saturday, and all day Sunday.

We would recommend using Tower Street long-stay pay-and-display car park (Tower Street and Sussex Street, SO23 8TA).
This is chargeable Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, with the all-day rate at £8. Between Saturday 6pm and Monday 8am there is no charge.
This car park is also free on Bank Holidays. Access available 24 hours.

Parking for customers using the bar and restaurant: we’re sorry, but we do not have parking facilities for customers using the Old Vine’s bar and restaurant.
We advise customers to use on-street parking in Symond’s Street, or the short-stay public car park at Colebrook Street. Parking on single-yellow lines is also permitted past 6pm, in St Thomas Street and Little Minster Street.

A ramp is available to enable wheelchair access through the restaurant door. Please ask a member of staff for assistance.
Please note that only the main restaurant and bar are accessible to wheelchairs, and that the hotel, courtyard room and public toilets can only be reached through a set of steps where a ramp is not feasible.
