The Old Vine’s Bar + Terrace
Our cosy bar retains all the charming period features of an 18th-century building, with contemporary style courtesy of Design House. Relax over a glass of fine wine or a refreshing pint of real ale (Ringwood Best always on hand pump, with three guest ales on rotation). Real ale buffs might like to know that the quality of our beer is guaranteed by Cask Marque. Also, we’re in the Good Beer Guide for 2013, and are members of Camra’s LocAle scheme, which recognises our support of local brewers.
Feeling peckish? How about some mixed nuts, olives, crisps, or maybe something from the bar menu? Or perhaps a scrumptious afternoon tea of fluffy scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream, served in the bar every day during summer from 3pm until 6pm?
We were the first pub in Winchester to phase out smoking (in March 2005), and now we’re delighted to offer our non-smoking customers an outdoor space that’s 100% smoke-free – in summer, our pretty, flower-filled patio is available for al fresco food and drink, and should the British weather do its worst, there is a bright and airy conservatory area, also known as the courtyard garden room. There’s also a lovely café-style seating area at the front of the Old Vine – please note that, like the rest of the Old Vine, this is 100% non-smoking.
Policy on children: kids over six are welcome in the restaurant at any time, and in the bar at lunchtimes and during the day. Children under six have use of the courtyard garden room, and outside spaces. Please note that, due to space restrictions, pushchairs cannot be accommodated indoors. A high chair can be supplied for use in the courtyard room.
Policy on pets: pets are welcome in the bar and on the outside areas, but are not permitted in the restaurant or hotel rooms.
