The Old Vine – a warm welcome to one of the most comfortable hotels in Winchester
We’re delighted The Old Vine has been voted a first choice for travellers visiting Winchester by Trip Advisor members, and is included in the AA’s Highly Commended list of hotels offering first-rate hospitality. In 2012 TripAdvisor has awarded the Old Vine a Certificate of Excellence.
We’re very proud of our spacious, beautifully presented four-star hotel accommodation (AA rating, four-star inn), offering a superior level of comfort in stylish yet warm and restful surroundings. Interior design experts Design House have created an elegant mix of antique and contemporary – finely crafted Georgian, Arts and Crafts, Victorian and Art Deco furniture sits alongside the sumptuous fabrics and wallpapers of designers Osborne & Little, Zimmer + Rohde, Nina Campbell, Zoffany and the Designers Guild (which, incidentally, our rooms are named after).
We offer three double rooms, one twin/double room, a luxurious top-floor suite which commands a breathtaking view of Winchester cathedral, and a beautifully appointed self-contained apartment (the Designers Guild Annexe, new for May 2013) that’s perfect for families.
With 24-hour access guests are free to explore Winchester’s vibrant city centre of shops, bars, restaurants and lively night-life; visit our cosy, oak-beamed bar; or book a table in our popular restaurant for lunch or supper in relaxed, friendly surroundings.
Come morning, freshly baked bread, free-range eggs, Hampshire sausage, juices, fresh fruit, tempting pastries and locally produced preserves are the ingredients for a wonderful breakfast, taken either in your room or in the restaurant – the perfect prelude to an exploration of the lively shops, fascinating historical buildings and tranquil open spaces of Winchester.
And if you’re feeling energetic, why not take in the magnificent view from the top of St Catherine’s Hill, gateway to the South Downs Way?
Taking a cruise from Southampton? Why not start your holiday early with a stop over in Winchester? And if you require a transfer to Southampton cruise terminal, we’re happy to make the arrangements on your behalf.
Policy on children: kids of any age are welcome in the hotel rooms; we do not charge for children aged 3 and below. Please note that we don’t supply cots for infants. A foldaway bed is available for older children. Children over six are welcome in the restaurant at any time, and in the bar at lunchtimes and during the day. Children under six have use of the courtyard garden room, and outside spaces. Please note that, due to space restrictions, pushchairs cannot be accommodated indoors. A high chair can be supplied for use in the courtyard room.
Policy on pets: pets are welcome in the bar and on the outside areas, but are not permitted in the restaurant or hotel rooms.
New for 2013: The Designers Guild Annexe is now open! This self-contained townhouse apartment at the rear of the Old Vine has been beautifully furnished with items from Designers Guild. Sleeping up to five persons, and with two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living room, the Annexe is the perfect choice for single-, double- and family-occupancy, as well as for guests looking for a longer-term stay. The unit also comes with use of a small garage. Email reservations@oldvinewinchester.com for details, or visit the Designers Guild Annexe page.
